Shoreham RNLI Responds to Multiple Incidents at Sea

Shoreham RNLI lifeboat crews were called out to three separate incidents on Saturday afternoon, including a stricken angling vessel and paddleboarders in difficulty off the coast.

The first incident occurred at around 4.20pm when pagers alerted the all-weather lifeboat crew to assist a 27-foot angling boat located six miles south of Shoreham. The vessel had suffered a gearbox failure and was deemed a possible hazard to navigation. Crews towed the boat, with three people on board, safely back to Shoreham Harbour.

Shortly after, the inshore lifeboat was launched following reports of two paddleboarders struggling in the water approximately 400 metres off Hove Lawns. By the time the crew arrived at the scene, the individuals had managed to make it ashore without further assistance.

Shoreham RNLI launch authority Colin Scott confirmed that the volunteer team had carried out three successful launches on Saturday. He said the incidents had been resolved safely and praised the efforts of the crews who responded promptly to the emergencies.
