Sussex Police launches survey on violence against women and girls

Sussex Police has launched a new survey inviting women and girls to share their experiences and perceptions of safety as part of ongoing efforts to tackle violence against women and girls. The Violence Against Women and Girls Survey opens on 18 November and will remain available for five weeks.
The force has run the survey twice before, in 2021 and 2023, with previous responses helping shape measures such as increased patrols in identified hotspots, the use of drones, and improved recording and investigation of non-contact sexual offences. This year’s survey places particular focus on offences such as voyeurism and indecent exposure, which the force says can act as early warning signs for more serious crimes.
Sussex Police is encouraging young women aged 18 to 24 to take part, noting that this group has previously been less likely to respond. The survey will remain open over White Ribbon Day on 25 November, and the force has partnered with a local illustrator to help reach younger audiences. Detective Superintendent Karrie Bohanna said the feedback was vital for informing policing plans and improving outcomes for victims.
