Sussex Police launches victim contact portal to improve case updates

Sussex Police has introduced a new digital portal designed to improve communication and support for victims of crime.

The system allows users to receive updates directly from investigating officers, view progress on their cases, and send secure messages.

The portal was first launched in March and has since delivered more than 50,000 key messages to victims. It ensures compliance with the Victim Code of Practice and provides details such as officer contacts, arrests, charges, and case outcomes. On 12 August, the service was extended to victims of domestic abuse, with safety considerations assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Feedback so far has been positive, with many users praising the clarity and accessibility of the platform. Superintendent Jonathan Hartley described the portal as a way of offering reassurance and keeping victims at the centre of investigations.

Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne welcomed the initiative, saying it would improve transparency and help residents feel more informed and confident in the justice process.
