Thousands gather for Worthing Carnival parade

Worthing’s annual carnival parade took place through the town on Bank Holiday Monday, bringing music and performers to the streets. The event served as the culmination of two days of free family entertainment, and involved community groups, charities, businesses, and sports clubs from across the area.

The Grand Parade began at Grand Avenue at 12.30pm, led by the official Town Crier, Bob Smytherman. Despite a brief downpour, thousands of people lined both sides of Marine Parade to watch the procession head towards Steyne Gardens.

There were 34 parade entries this year, making it one of the largest Worthing Carnival parades in recent years. Entries included Worthing Rugby Club, Andy’s Angels, Worthing Musical Comedy Society, Worthing Boys Club, and a double-decker bus from Radio Worthing supported by Compass Travel.

Additional attractions included the Great Little Farmers Market on the seafront, which hosted approximately 35 traders over the weekend, alongside amusements from Dave Hunt Leisure and Coles Fun Fair.

The carnival raised funds for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance and the Worthing Veterans Association.
