Thousands of children offered West Sussex school places

Thousands of children across West Sussex have been allocated primary and junior school places, with the majority receiving one of their preferred options.

West Sussex County Council said its admissions team processed 8,309 applications for children starting school this year. Of those, 99 per cent were offered a place at one of their three preferred schools, while 91.8 per cent, equivalent to 7,631 applicants, secured their first choice.

A further 1,294 applications were made for transfers from infant to junior school, with all pupils receiving their first preference. Offers were issued by email on April 16, and families who did not receive one of their preferred choices have been advised to contact the council’s customer services team for further assistance.
