Three charged with arson after Worthing tanning salon blaze

Three men have been charged with arson following a fire which destroyed a tanning salon in Worthing. Dozens of residents were evacuated from flats above the TanTastic salon in Broadwater Street West during the blaze, which broke out on 21 October 2024.

Sussex Police confirmed that Stuart Jenkins, 62, Brandon Tipling, 20, and Archie Ellins, 19, have each been charged with conspiracy to commit arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. Detective Inspector Louise Baileff described the incident as distressing and said it had caused significant concern within the local community.

The three men are due to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court next month. Police added that a woman who was initially arrested in connection with the fire has since been released without charge.
