Train services disrupted after car ends up on railway tracks in Ferring

Rail services were disrupted for several hours this morning after a car ended up on the railway tracks at Ferring. The incident blocked all lines between Angmering and Worthing, causing significant delays and cancellations.

Southern Rail said the car had collided with the level crossing barriers before coming to rest on the tracks. Services between Brighton and Chichester, as well as trains towards Portsmouth and Southsea, were cancelled or delayed while the obstruction was cleared.

Engineers worked at the scene and the line reopened shortly before 11am. Passengers faced disruption throughout the morning as services returned to normal.
