Train services disrupted after vehicle strikes bridge in Southwick

Train services between Worthing and Hove were disrupted on Thursday afternoon after a road vehicle collided with a railway bridge in Southwick.

Southern Rail reported the incident shortly before 3pm, warning that services on the route were affected. The collision prompted an immediate halt to train movements while the condition of the bridge was assessed.

Network Rail engineers attended the scene to inspect the structure and determine whether it was safe for trains to resume. Further updates are expected as inspections continue and efforts were made to restore normal service.
