Two arrested after reported attempt to scam elderly man in Worthing

Two people have been arrested following a reported attempt to scam an elderly man in Worthing, with armed police called to Findon Road in Offington on Monday.

Sussex Police said a man and woman from Findon were arrested on suspicion of kidnap, blackmail and wounding with intent after officers were called at about 2pm on September 14. The victim was reportedly taken to a post office in an attempt to withdraw money.

Police said the two people have been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue and the victim has been safeguarded. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 788 of 14/09.
