Woman dies after two vehicle collision on Littlehampton Road

An 89-year-old woman has died following a collision involving two vehicles on the A2032 Littlehampton Road in Worthing.

Emergency services were called to the incident at about 1.35pm on May 12 after a crash involving a BMW and a silver Ford Focus Estate. The woman, who was a passenger in the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sussex Police said the driver of the Ford Focus, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

The A2032 was closed in both directions between Lindum Road and the roundabout with The Boulevard and Durrington Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage connected to the collision, which has been named Operation Westfield.
