Worthing Car park operator enters administration

National Car Parks (NCP) has entered administration, putting 682 jobs at risk while sites across the country remain open and trading continues.
NCP operates several small car parks in Worthing, including locations on High Street, Upper High Street near Worthing Hospital, and Bedford Row. The company also runs the Union Place car park which is currently closed for redevelopment.
The majority of public car parks in the town are run by Worthing Borough Council and are unaffected.
The company’s administrator, PwC, said demand for parking had not returned to pre pandemic levels, citing changes in commuting habits and customer driving patterns. The firm has also faced ongoing losses and has been unable to exit long term leases at loss making sites.
PwC said the business would continue operating while options were explored, with a sale of the company considered the best outcome for creditors.
