Worthing car parks cleaned up as part of Pride in Worthing initiative

Worthing Borough Council has been carrying out clean-up work at car parks across the town as part of its Pride in Worthing initiative, with teams focusing on making parking areas cleaner, tidier and safer for motorists and passengers.

The council’s car parks team has been visiting ground-level sites to cut back undergrowth, remove overhanging branches and trim shrubbery. Work has included Goring Road car park behind the shopping parade and Lyndhurst Road car park, which the authority said had recently been tidied.

The council said the work forms part of wider efforts with businesses, community groups and other partners to make Worthing cleaner, greener and more welcoming. It is also investing in improvements to the town centre and seafront and developing a wider action plan to identify further work and agree priorities with residents, businesses and community groups.

Separately, Paul Holden from the Worthing Journal has been organising his own campaign on social media, encouraging volunteers to help tidy public areas across Worthing. Holden has been critical of the council’s efforts and believes more could be done to improve the appearance of the town. He has argued that public perception is important in building local pride and shaping the impression Worthing leaves on visitors.
