Worthing chef wins national Asian Chef of the Year title for fifth time

Worthing chef Sahil Ahmad has won the national Asian Chef of the Year title for the fifth year in a row at the Asian Curry Awards 2025 held in London. The accolade was presented at a ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel on 16 November.
Ahmad, who first won the award aged 17, runs the Miso Hospitality Group with his family. The group operates Issa Sushi in Worthing, Lemongrass in Rustington, Spice I Am in Goring and Miso Asia in Chichester. The award was presented by BBC journalist Samantha Simmonds and former Apprentice finalist Anisa Khan.
A spokesperson for the group said Ahmad had faced stronger competition than in previous years, with secret diners and critics assessing standards. They added that he continues to build on the culinary legacy of his family, including his father Nasir and brother Samir, whose restaurants have also achieved national recognition.
