Worthing College students graduate from fire service Ignite course

Twelve students from Worthing College have completed a fire service course designed to strengthen confidence, life skills and teamwork.
The group graduated from the Ignite programme, run by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, which helps young people improve resilience, wellbeing and relationships.
The 16 to 19-year-olds took part in firefighter-style exercises, including hose running drills, first aid instruction and team challenges. Assistant Chief Fire Officer Andy Piller praised the students for their commitment, saying he had seen clear development in their communication and teamwork during the programme.
A pass out parade was held at Lancing Fire Station on Friday, 17 October, where families gathered to celebrate the students’ achievements. The scheme is part of the service’s Targeted Education initiatives, offering insight into the fire and rescue service and supporting safer and more resilient communities.
