Worthing community gym launches £20,000 fundraising campaign for refurbishment

A community gym in Worthing has launched a 20000 pound crowdfunding campaign to fund a refurbishment and upgrade its equipment.

The Bar Gym, based in Bath Place, is aiming to improve its facilities with all funds raised going directly towards the project.

The family orientated gym, which opened in 2009 and became a registered charity in 2019, has been supported by members taking part in fundraising efforts. As part of the campaign, three junior members are set to complete a ten mile sponsored walk and cycle from Goring to Lancing and back on March 29.

Manager Nick Brewer said the gym was created to offer an inclusive space for all ages, from young children to older adults. He added that despite competition from larger corporate gyms, the focus remains on maintaining a community environment where families train together and long term members continue to return.
