Worthing Devolution Plans Moving Forward

Worthing Borough Council has teamed up with Adur and Arun Councils to back forming two new unitary authorities to contol West Sussex. Under the proposal, Adur, Arun, Worthing and Chichester would combine to form a south west half, with Horsham, Crawley and Mid Sussex forming the north east half.

It is claimed that this arrangment would save £18.8 million a year compared to now.

The deadline for councils to submit proposals to the Goverment is 26th September, with the options being debated by councils next week.

In August, Worthing’s Council Leader, Cllr Sophie Cox, (pictured) spoke to Radio Worthing about the plans. You can listen to it here on our Worthing Podcast page.
