Worthing growth deal refreshed with investment planned through to 2030

A refreshed growth deal for Worthing has been endorsed by West Sussex County Council as part of a programme intended to support investment in town centres, green spaces, transport links and community facilities through to 2030.

Worthing projects highlighted in the programme include the £3.1 million Montague Gardens scheme, which will provide new green space, a play area and an event stage while improving links between the seafront and town centre. The deal also includes the Worthing public realm improvements programme and investment in the long-term future of Worthing Pier and the Lido.

The council said the refreshed deals place greater emphasis on biodiversity, greener public spaces, sustainable transport and net zero ambitions, with Worthing among the locations identified for heat networks. Seven agreements covering Adur, Arun, Chichester, Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex and Worthing have been updated to reflect current local plans, economic priorities and development opportunities.
