Worthing Heat Network expansion to continue without road closures

Work to expand the Worthing Heat Network is continuing with no road closures planned as engineers prepare to connect more town centre buildings to the low-carbon heating system.
Developer Hemiko said work began this week to reinstate parts of Steyne Gardens while construction teams prepare to install underground pipework linking the High Street Multi-Storey Car Park and Steyne Gardens. The company said underground drilling techniques would be used instead of trenching across Brighton Road and the gardens in an effort to reduce disruption.
Hemiko said sections of Steyne Gardens would be restored between May 18 and June 25 to allow grass to regrow and parts of the area to reopen to the public ahead of Armed Forces Day events.
The company added that traffic would continue to flow normally during the works and the High Street Multi-Storey Car Park would remain open while the next phase connects Splashpoint Leisure Centre and the Pavilion Theatre to the network.
