Worthing Hospital urges public to stay away amid flu and norovirus rise

Worthing Hospital is experiencing high demand as cases of norovirus, flu and Covid continue to rise, prompting restrictions on visiting and a warning to avoid attending if unwell.

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust said it is seeing a high number of attendances and has urged people to only use A&E for serious or life-threatening emergencies. Anyone with symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting, cough, fever or fatigue is being advised not to visit the hospital.

Norovirus-affected wards have been closed and visiting has been restricted to exceptional circumstances in these areas. Visitors to any ward treating flu or Covid patients are asked to wear masks. The trust said people should contact wards directly to check restrictions before attempting to visit.
