Worthing Leisure Centre Installs Over 140 New Solar Panels

Splashpoint Leisure Centre in Worthing is set to benefit from more than 140 additional solar panels, as part of efforts to enhance sustainability and reduce carbon emissions.
The installation, currently underway, follows a successful funding application by Worthing Borough Council to Sport England’s Swimming Pool Support Fund.
The council announced that the new solar array is expected to generate over 60 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity annually, which will be sufficient to power the pumps of one of the facility’s pools for approximately six months each year. Additionally, the project is projected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by more than 12 tonnes per year, equivalent to the impact of planting around 560 trees.
Operated by South Downs Leisure, the popular facility is expected to have the new solar panels fully operational within two weeks. A council spokesperson expressed gratitude to South Downs Leisure for its support and reaffirmed the commitment to making Worthing’s public facilities more environmentally friendly.
