Worthing Nursery Closes Abruptly Following Ofsted Welfare Notice
MonkeyMoos nursery in Worthing has closed its doors suddenly after being served a welfare requirements notice by Ofsted. Parents were informed via email, with the nursery citing financial and staffing challenges as reasons for the immediate closure.
The nursery, located on Angola Road informed parents on the evening of November 27, 2024, that it would not reopen the following morning. Ofsted issued a welfare requirements notice earlier in the month following concerns about safeguarding policies and procedures. Despite a deadline for improvements set for November 28, the nursery decided to cease operations entirely.
In a letter to families, the nursery expressed regret over the closure, attributing the decision to rising costs, funding shortfalls, and staffing issues. Arrangements are being made to refund any outstanding fees, and parents were invited to collect their children’s belongings on November 29. Local nurseries, including Discovery Day Nursery and Little Rascals Nursery, have offered support to affected families and staff, providing childcare options and employment opportunities.
