Worthing Pier Repairs - latest update
Scaffolding has been installed on both sides of Worthing Pier to enable contractors to complete final repairs safely, overcoming challenging weather conditions.
The latest update on Worthing Pier’s repair project confirms that scaffolding has now been fully erected on both the east and west sides of the pier. This setup allows contractors to work on temporary platforms beneath the structure, avoiding the need to wait for spring low tides to carry out essential welding and bracing tasks.
Recent stormy weather had significantly delayed progress, with waves crashing over the platforms and creating unsafe conditions for the repair teams. However, the situation improved as calmer seas allowed contractors to assess and confirm the integrity of the scaffolding before resuming work.
The repairs are expected to be finalised soon, ensuring the pier can reopen
