Worthing Pier’s Eastern Entrance Reopens After Decking Repairs

Worthing Pier’s eastern entrance has reopened to the public following the completion of major decking replacement works, funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Adur and Worthing Councils confirmed the successful conclusion of the refurbishment, which involved installing new timbers to maintain the structural integrity and safety of the popular seafront attraction. The eastern entrance had been closed to allow contractors from Mackley to carry out the work.

The replacement is part of an ongoing maintenance programme, with sections of the pier deck being renewed every 25 years. This approach ensures continued safe access for the many residents and visitors who use the pier year-round.

In a statement, the council thanked the public for their patience during the works and said future plans are in motion to create a long-term blueprint to preserve the pier and other coastal heritage sites, aiming to protect them for generations to come.
