Goring pub seeks later opening and extended live music hours

A pub in Goring has applied for permission to extend its opening hours, allowing later alcohol sales and live music. Greene King Brewing and Retailing Limited has submitted an application to Worthing Borough Council to vary the premises licence at The Castle, located in The Strand.
The proposal would allow the pub to open until 12.30am from Sunday to Thursday and until 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, compared with the current 11.30pm and 12.30am closing times respectively. Alcohol sales would also be extended by an hour on each day, while regulated entertainment, including live music, would be permitted until midnight every day instead of the current 11pm limit.
The application also seeks permission for extended non standard hours on public holidays and other specified dates, while keeping New Year’s Eve arrangements unchanged. Additional conditions are proposed, including customer dispersal measures and regular noise checks, with records kept when entertainment is provided. Members of the public have until January 14 to submit representations, and a licensing committee hearing will be held on February 11 if required.
