Worthing railway station reopens after emergency incident

Worthing railway station has reopened following an emergency incident that forced its closure overnight. Police have lifted a cordon outside the station, and Southern confirmed that trains began calling there again on Monday morning (October 12).

Southern announced on Sunday evening that services were unable to stop at Worthing because of an emergency incident. The station remained closed overnight, with police officers and Network Rail’s Incident Response Unit seen at the scene. A cordon was placed outside the station entrance.

Southern confirmed the reopening at approximately 7.15am on Monday and advised passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more at their destination to claim Delay Repay compensation. Further information about the nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed, and police have been approached for details.
