Worthing residents recognised in Kings New Year Honours

Several residents from Worthing have been recognised in the Kings New Year Honours list for their contributions to industry public service and the local community.
Thirty people from across Sussex were named in the latest honours list with a number of awards going to individuals based in Worthing. Those recognised have been acknowledged for long-standing service in sectors including automotive manufacturing forestry and healthcare.
John Michael Newton Cooper received an OBE for services to the automotive industry following his role as chairman of the Cooper Car Company. Josephine Lavelle was awarded an MBE for her work in forestry as director of marketing and engagement at Forestry England while Jacqueline Yvonne Whitnell received a BEM for services to the NHS and to higher education through her work as a nurse at Lime Tree Primary Care Practice.
