Worthing town centre and seafront to undergo £150,000 refurbishment

Worthing town centre and seafront are set to receive a major facelift as part of a £150,000 refurbishment programme announced by Worthing Borough Council.

The works aim to make the area more attractive for both residents and visitors through a series of repairs, improvements and cosmetic upgrades.

The programme will include repainting benches, railings and bins, refurbishing seafront shelters, and completing the remaining sections of stained glass windows on the pier. Steps at the Guildbourne Centre will be repainted, new directional posts will be installed to help visitors navigate the town, and increased promotional activity will take place in the run-up to Christmas to encourage more people to spend time in Worthing.

Additional works will focus on cleaning and tidying public spaces, including jetwashing paving, removing graffiti and maintaining verges. Council officers will lead the projects, but residents and businesses will be invited to volunteer to help extend the scope of improvements. Updates on the work and details of volunteer opportunities will be shared on the council’s Facebook page.
