Worthing United Youth FC Opens New Clubhouse Honouring Local Footballers

Worthing United Youth FC has officially opened a new clubhouse at Hill Barn Recreation Ground, replacing its ageing 1950s structure with modern facilities designed to support over 500 youth members.
The unveiling took place on Sunday, 20 July, during a community event attended by local leaders, football organisations, and families of players commemorated by the club. The project was partly funded by a £20,000 donation from the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund, raised in memory of Matt Grimstone and Jacob Schilt—two footballers who died in the 2015 Shoreham Airshow crash. Their families, along with the family of former club member Robert Albon, were guests of honour at the event.
The new modular building comprises four changing rooms with showers, separate male and female toilets, a tea hut, and an indoor seating area. It was officially opened by club players, officials, sponsors, and representatives including the Mayor of Worthing, Cathy Glynn-Davies. A memorial match and a Colour War tournament formed part of the celebrations, reinforcing the club’s community spirit and commitment to youth development in the town.
