Worthing Veterans Mark VJ Day

A group of forces veterans were joined by local personalities and guests in a commemoration of VJ Day today, Thursday 14th August.

After gathering for a photo call at the south side of Steyne Gardens (pictured), they walked up to The Indigo Restaurant for a celebratory Afternoon Tea with 200 guests. Town Crier Bob Smytherman officiated, with music by local singer Jenna Hall recalling some wartime favourites including “The Lambeth Walk” and “We’ll Meet Again”.

The event was sponsored by Hemiko who are currently installing the town’s new heat network, and organised by Bob Smytherman and ‘Social Media Rocket’ Melanie Peters. £750 was raised for Worthing Veterans Association.
