Radio Worthing honoured with award in memory of Malcolm Brett

Radio Worthing CIC is honoured to have received the inaugural award created by Worthing Community Chest in memory of its much-loved former trustee Malcolm Brett.

The award was presented by Malcolm’s family at Worthing Community Chest’s 25th Anniversary AGM at the Maybridge Keystone Centre, recognising Malcolm’s 13 years as a trustee and his contribution to the wider Worthing community.

Community radio was particularly close to Malcolm’s heart, making the award especially meaningful to everyone involved with Radio Worthing.

Alongside the honour, Radio Worthing will receive £200 in addition to a recent Grants for Growth award from Worthing Community Chest. We are extremely grateful for both the recognition and the financial support.

Radio Worthing is a Community Interest Company and exists for the benefit of the community we serve. There are no shareholders taking profits from the organisation: the money we raise and the support we receive is being put into launching and developing a genuinely local radio service for Worthing - one which gives a voice to people, organisations and communities across our town.

We hope that our commitment to truly local radio will be a fitting way to honour Malcolm’s legacy.

As we build Radio Worthing, we also look forward to working more closely with Worthing Community Chest and with the many charities, voluntary groups and community organisations it has supported over the past 25 years.

Local radio can do much more than entertain. It can bring people together, promote the work being done throughout our community, give local organisations a platform to tell their stories and help people discover opportunities to become involved.

By working together, sharing what is happening in our town and supporting the people and organisations working to make a difference, we can help Worthing continue to be a great place to live.
